When we learn any languages other than our own, without understanding the target language’s culture, we only obtain surface knowledge. This course is designed for anyone who might have started their interest in South Korea up to anyone with quench for deeper understanding of South Korea.
Besides weekly class meeting for 2 hours, with your Korean partner(s), you are expected to spend additional 2-4 hours in completing weekly assignments.

Class Description:
In this course, we are going to discuss some of the current issues in South Korea that are relevant to understanding Korea and Koreans. By looking at issues that are specific to South Korea, you will gain some insights that are more than just acquiring language.
Every week, we will discuss weekly topics and then engage in assignments with Korean Native partners from South Korea, completing and sharing the following assignments: 1) Pair-reflection journals; 2) Group-led discussion for 30 minutes 3) Role-playing scenario creation and production and reflection
